What you need to know about Covid-19 (aka Coronavirus)
A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new coronavirus that has not been previously identified. The 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), is not the same as the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness, like the common cold. There have been other unique viruses we’ve been faced with in the last few as well such as the Swine Flu. The CDC has put out some really good info on Covid-19 and impact of this and other viruses. Schooling from Home
That’s the question on a lot of parents minds. School districts in all 50 states have closed in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19. This is requiring a major adjustment for hundreds of thousands of parents and children across the country. Don’t Worry! We have GREAT news! Several moms from the Moms for America team have been schooling from home for years–including our own president, Kimberly Fletcher. There are a wealth of resources available to families to teach their kids at home. We have compiled some of our favorite “go-to” websites to help you keep the kids engaged and on track.
Working from Home
The difficulties of COVID-19 are forcing families to adjust to staying close to home and for many that means working from home. While this is a new phenomenon for a lot of families, for some its just everyday life. Joy Pullman is the perfect example. If there ever were a Pulitzer for a wife and a busy mom with five children who works from home, Joy Pullman should receive that award! To help other moms in this new work-from-home world, Joy wrote an article “14 Strategies for Working from Home Around Children Without Endless Screen Time” which is an definite must-read! It is an absolute treasure chest of “free advice” that Joy and her family practice on a regular basis. Her suggestions are clever, creative, doable, practical, and clearly explained. They obviously can work and do work because Joy and her family live them each day.

Preparing with Confidence
With Covid-19 causing businesses and schools to close and grocery shelves to be empty many moms are asking what they should do to provided for their families during this time. Should you stock up on food, store gas, and what about toilet paper? There has never been a better time to consider these questions and we’ve gone to our mom preparedness experts to get the answers.
How to Support our Seniors
We are a caring people, because of that, many are asking how we can support the elderly in our community without putting them risk of coronavirus (Covid-19). How do we help them feel connected when they need to be isolated? Here are some great articles we found on that very subject. “Churching” from Home
With churches closing their doors for services during the coronavirus isolation period, families are looking for ways to stay connected with their faith. FaceTime devotionals and Zoom services are a great way to church from home. There are some great live stream and video services you and your family can enjoy as well. There are also some great television series you can watch as a family from old favorites like “The Waltons“ and “Little House on the Prairie” to current series like “When Calls the Heart” and “When Hope Calls” with airs on Hallmark each Sunday. Many of the platforms like Netflix and Amazon carry the older shows and previous episodes of the current ones. Another excellent source for good family entertainment is PureFlix (the family-friendly version of Netflix) Pureflix is clean entertainment promoting faith and family values.
