Executive order creates NIH Women's Health Division and White House task force to prioritize research, prevention and treatment
WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 20, 2026) – Moms for America is applauding President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for advancing women's healthcare after Monday's executive order signing in the White House Rose Garden.
The order, “Advancing Women's Health to Improve Outcomes in All Phases of Life,” targets conditions that have too often been overlooked or underfunded, including endometriosis, infertility, fibroids, menopause, maternal health and mental health. The first lady championed the initiative.
It directs the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to establish a new Women's Health Division within 90 days. The division will work alongside the agency's existing Office of Research on Women's Health and carry a broader mandate than research alone. The order also creates a White House Women's Health Task Force, chaired by White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to strengthen research, advance patient-centered care and help turn scientific discoveries into practical treatments.
Moms for America Vice President Debbie Kraulidis attended the signing ceremony on behalf of mothers and families nationwide.
“It was an extraordinary honor to stand in the Rose Garden and watch President Trump sign an order that offers real hope to millions of American women,” said Kraulidis, vice president of Moms for America. “As a mother living with an autoimmune disease, this is deeply personal to me. So many women quietly battle chronic illness while caring for their children and families. We deserve answers, earlier diagnoses and treatments that give us our quality of life back. I am especially grateful to first lady Melania Trump for making sure women's health concerns are heard at the highest levels of government.”
Kimberly Fletcher, founder and president of Moms for America, said the order recognizes that women's health is central to the well-being of American families.
“Every mother knows that when her health suffers, her whole family feels it,” said Fletcher, who lives with diabetes. “I understand personally how important it is to have quality healthcare and treatments that truly improve our lives. I am deeply grateful to President Trump and first lady Melania Trump for making women's health a national priority. Healthy mothers mean healthy families, and healthy families mean a stronger America.”
Moms for America looks forward to seeing the initiative deliver meaningful advances for women across the country.
Fletcher and Kraulidis are available for interviews about the executive order, their personal experiences with chronic illness and the importance of improving healthcare for America's mothers and families.
