Don't Buy the Hype - 7 Things Going Right in America Now

In an age of instant information, with powerful computers in the palm of your hand, it's easy to get sucked into a vortex of negativity. On the Left, social feeds deem every action, word, or thought from the White House an outrage. Trump Derangement Syndrome seems to rule many news cycles.

Then, on the Right, often the negativity sounds like a deep fear of what if…

"What if the Democratic Socialists take power?"

"What if we lose the House and Senate and they decide to pack the Supreme Court?"

"What if AI takes over and kills us all!"

It's easy to fall into doomscroll culture regardless of which side of the aisle you're on. We see an algorithm-driven descent into disappointment and nail-biting angst.

From our feeds, you'd think our dear nation was done for. If the aliens don't get us, the Socialists will. We aren't buying it, and neither should you. Our team travels the nation meeting and working with moms in all 50 states, and we know better.

It's time to silence the hype. Here are seven things we know are going very right in America.

1. Patriotism is Thriving

Patriotic fervor is back in style.

You don't have to look any farther than the festivities across the nation, especially in D.C., for the 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence. The National State Fair, along with parades, concerts, Sail4th 250 (a history-making nautical and tall ship exhibition), the largest fireworks display in world history, and coming this month, the Freedom250 Grand Prix event. It's the first time our nation's capital will see Formula 1 cars racing past historic landmarks to celebrate our semiquincentennial. Their tagline for that event: "Let Freedom Rev!" These represent only a handful of the many events planned all year long in every state.

The Trump administration has also sought to restore some of our nation's monuments and to rid our Smithsonian museums of the alarming infestation of negativity, only-part-true history, and woke, un-American ideologies.

Certain voices still decry our history and accomplishments, seemingly hellbent on the tired narrative that America isn't great or good. Most citizens aren't buying that anymore. One evidence of this change in public sentiment is the military's record-high recruitment across all branches of service: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force. Brave Americans seek to serve and defend our freedoms, and we couldn't be more grateful and filled with patriotic pride.

If you're still not convinced that patriotism is on the rise, ask more than a million foreign visitors who experienced American greatness firsthand during this summer's World Cup. From air conditioning and free soda refills to Walmart and Waffle House, in hundreds of thousands of social media posts they raved about their brief taste of American life.

2. Americans Can Prosper

The "affordability crisis" is the mantra for those wishing to inch us away from capitalism towards socialism. It seems to be the phrase that pays lately, but certainly doesn't tell the true story of opportunity in America.

Things are pricey right now. So, when your Gen Z daughter or son is frustrated and feeling hopeless, it's understandable. Still, as Americans, we have the ingenuity and drive to achieve. It's in our DNA.

With our freedoms, we can work a job and work our way up. We can get out of

debt and save for the future. Though we've become used to instant gratification, especially in our overnight Amazon delivery/Door Dash habits, for most, if a person is willing to work hard, even take on a few extra side-hustles, the future can be big. Maybe that first down-payment for a home will be a little more of a climb. But the view from the top is deeply gratifying.

Ramsey Solutions conducted the largest-ever study of its kind in the US, involving 10,000 millionaires. According to their website, "The top five careers found among millionaires" includes engineers, accountants, teachers, managers, and attorneys. Did you see that? Teachers!

It's not rock stars, doctors, and CEOs. It's made up of regular hard-working Americans in various everyday careers. So don't buy the hype that the "affordability crisis" makes it impossible to prosper. It may be hard, but so worth it!

3. Building Respect on the World Stage

We went from apologies-a-plenty as the key to our international relations during the Obama years, to the Biden Administration's failed policies and simpering performance before friends and foes on the world stage. It culminated with the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan that cost us dearly both financially and, most importantly, in American lives.

When President Trump began his second term, everything changed. He demanded respect for our nation and got it. He negotiated with world leaders using skill, wisdom, and cunning, helping America regain prominence. His policies benefit the entire world through a Reaganesque return to peace through strength.

Additionally, an aggressive tariff policy has begun to restore fairness to our nation's trade, bolstering business and industry's financial fortunes. In 2025 alone, that policy brought in $264 billion to American coffers.

Alongside those accomplishments, some are understandably questioning the current situation in Iran. It's important to note that the Iran policy is not a departure from the President's goals towards peace around the world. As we expect eventual resolution, it's important to remind ourselves that central to that mission is to protect the world from a nuclear-armed Iran. It had to be addressed, and our president saw the opportunity and necessity. The media will tell you it's all about higher gas prices sparked by the conflict. In fact, it's still about the future safety of our children and grandchildren.

4. An Executive Branch that Executes

Continuing that theme, President Trump doesn't just promise to do this or that; he executes. Often, quicker than expected, and sometimes posing a challenge for those who struggle to keep up (looking at you, House and Senate). We watched with relief and fascination as President Trump signed more than 100 executive orders all on his first day in office.

Since then, if he notes a problem or concern publicly, we can expect that, in the days or short weeks to come, his team will come up with a solution and a strategy to move quickly on it. There are something like 275 Executive Orders so far, just a year and a half into President Trump's second term. They address ending the practice of allowing men in women's sports and spaces and officially defining the sexes based on biology. Others seek to restore American commercial fishing in the Pacific, to improve educational outcomes by empowering parents, states, and communities, to restore truth and sanity to American history (we love this one!), and to end "birth tourism." There are literally hundreds more that touch nearly every citizen in some way through commonsense economic policies, the protection of our freedoms, and the restoration of our American cultural infrastructure.

In contrast, President Biden seemed to spend most of his four years hiding out. For good reason, apparently, but now that we have President Trump, the opposite is happening with new presidential actions taken nearly every day.

5. Choose Your American Adventure

The liberty we enjoy as Americans is easy to take for granted. If you were born here, all you've ever known is the freedom to live your life as you wish. It's like a "choose your adventure" story. If you'd like to be a teacher, plumber, actress, doctor, or stay-at-home mom, in our great nation you get to decide which way to go. There's no guarantee of success, but you still have the freedom to pursue your dreams. Work hard, don't give up, and you may just exceed your own expectations.

So many countries have stark limitations, though most of us have never breathed anything but the clear air of freedom here in the US. India, for example, the most populous country in the world, with 1.4 billion, still suffers under a caste system with classes that have differing rights and freedoms in some areas. Though this system was banned many years ago, the residue of old thinking remains. Still other countries limit the human rights and professions that women may legally pursue.

Our kids (and we) may not always appreciate how very different our brand of freedom is here in our beloved country. Your son or daughter can choose to become an author, a welder, or a college professor. They'll have to do the work and build a career, but thanks to American freedom, the possibilities are endless.

6. Moms Are on the Rise

How could we not mention you?

You are the catalyst for change in your family and community. Without a doubt, moms are among America's greatest assets. You are raising the next world-changing generation of young patriots. With your nurturing hand, they will be undergirded with faith, strength, and courage. They will guard and maintain our great American traditions. It's because of you, mamas!

As moms, you are standing up to those who oppose commonsense in our classrooms, voicing your concerns and proposing solutions at school board meetings. When CRT and gender ideologies threatened our young, you refused to be silenced. Many of you are choosing to become School District Ambassadors with Moms for America, and a trusted source of truth and guidance for fellow parents in your community.

Your voice is strong. And, together, we are even stronger. If you haven't yet become fully engaged with us, please consider locking arms with the thousands of moms around the country who have joined with us to stand strong for our nation and its future generations.

7. Freedom to Choose our Leaders

We must never lose sight of the importance of voting to choose our leaders! When we look around the world, many millions don't enjoy even a hint of this freedom. Sadly, too often Americans forget the precious privilege and responsibility to voice their will at the voting booth.

For most of the 20th century, roughly 50-60% of Americans have turned out to vote in presidential elections. In the most recent presidential race, about 64% of voters, a majority, selected President Trump. We face an enormous challenge this fall. Historically, the party in power usually loses to some degree in the midterms. Voters who were previously enthusiastic about electing a president can drop to 40-50% participation. In the late 90's the midterms saw percentages in the 30-40% range. Now more than ever, we need to mobilize and vote. So much of the progress in economics, foreign policy, protecting our children, and protecting parents' rights could slide backward into the previous woke malaise if family and freedom-loving patriots don't cast their ballots.

That's why we are focused on strategies to get out the vote. It can't be done without you, mamas, and we want to help you get involved. A good place to start is Moms for America Action, where you can learn about the latest efforts being made in preparation for this fall. You'll find news and information about legislation and the latest candidates we've endorsed. We have ideas and tools for you to use, along with other like-minded moms ready to lock arms and make a difference.

America faces challenges, but so much is going right in our beloved nation. Keep spreading the truth about the rich history and bright future for the US and its grateful citizens. Teach your kids about all the good, helping them develop a lifestyle of patriotic engagement, American courage, and pride. There's a great future ahead!
