Why Embracing Life in America Will Always Beat a Culture of Death

Life permeates our world. It is the pulsing force that makes us different from every other point in the galaxy. We sometimes note that art imitates life, or that we are in the prime of life. Who doesn’t love being called the life of the party? And as conservatives, we firmly believe in the right to life.

Life is sacred. God fashioned it as the essence of growth and flourishing on our big blue ball. And for those of us who are believers in Jesus, we know the promise of an unending, rich life beyond the grave. Life is of inestimable value – and for it, we express due gratitude to the Giver of all life – our faithful Creator.

With all of that, it’s hard to understand the culture of death that has spread across our nation like a black mold – choking the life out of our children, youth, and so many others. Who would embrace it? The killing, rejection, anger, and victimhood, in the forms of abortion, gender “affirming” mutilation, self-rejection, and suicidal ideologies. Sadly, they are enthusiastically embraced in a certain stream of the American Left.

This depressing ideological cult-like brand of politics truly seems out of place amid the hope and promise available to all Americans in this, the freest nation in the world. Yet, death culture and much of this soul-crushing mentality and worldview are central to the mindset of the radical Left.

The first and most obvious affront to embracing life and its value is seen in the near-religious fervor of those who embrace abortion.

Abortion = Death

It was startling to see politicians cheer with glee as a new law was being signed by then-Governor Cuomo, removing commonsense abortion restrictions, opening the way for more of New York’s preborn children to be killed. It was evidence that Democrats had moved far from President Clinton’s claim that he hoped abortion would be “safe, legal, and rare.”

Now, abortion advocates seem less committed to the “safe” and “rare” ideals as they relish abortion anytime, anywhere. During the 2024 Presidential election season, the Democratic National Convention hosted an abortion truck outside the convention hall. Babies died at the feet of that party’s most important gathering – and these deaths were celebrated.

Among those who champion the right to kill preborn children, things seem darker than ever. Did you know that 17 states have removed all barriers to those seeking abortions? That means, among other things, no parental notification, no waiting periods, no counseling, and no limits on the gruesome procedure. They allow babies to be brutally dismembered and killed up to the time of natural birth.

It sounds less like American values and more like ancient Rome, where it was legal to kill a baby if the father decided it was unwanted. They were done away with by drowning, strangulation, or exposure. The idea of that sounds unthinkable to our modern ears; however, in America, in 2025 alone, we saw more than 1.1 million little ones mercilessly killed.

LGBTQ – A Culture of Death

Some may disagree with my assessment that there is a death-culture associated with LGBTQ ideology – and certainly not every individual who embraces these various lifestyles would consider it dark or dangerous. However, to illustrate my point, let’s talk about the idea of living a transgendered lifestyle.

I call it a lifestyle because you can’t actually change your gender. For those who struggle, it must be devastatingly painful to consider that truth. But, at the end of the day – or the end of one’s life – the biology doesn’t lie.

Where does the idea of becoming another gender begin? It always starts with rejecting one’s very self. It is an exercise in self-rejection. Then, through online videos of transitioners and advocates, hurting individuals are sold a pipe dream. They are told that if they begin to embrace their “true” selves as another gender through social, chemical, and then surgical transition, they will finally feel good about themselves. However, for a growing number of now-grown kids, they are disappointed, permanently disfigured, or sterile, and many cannot experience sexual pleasure. It is a tragic trend that has robbed life from so many, not to mention those who remain suicidal after all the gender intervention is complete.

Another heartbreaking element of that culture is the fact that many children who would’ve been born to that next generation will not be because of the permanent harm that will prevent many young people from procreating. It’s a painful consequence of the gender craze – and a deep loss to our nation and its future.

Euthanasia – Death of the Hopeless

Another dark practice embraced in mostly blue states (13, plus Washington, D.C.) is assisted suicide, or euthanasia. While most of the nearly 2,000 or so who were “helped” to die in our nation, most were cancer-related, or individuals with other debilitating diseases. The concern should be raised about the slippery slope that could lead our nation into devaluing life to the point of embracing suicide as an option, pushing the ill or disabled to feel guilt over being a “burden” as portions of our culture try to push in this wrong-headed direction.

Terrible tragedies in this area are happening around the world, with a recent case from Spain making headlines. Noelia Castillo Ramos was the youngest person to die in that nation by euthanasia, for psychological reasons. Her father waged a legal battle to save her, claiming that she was not mentally competent to make such a drastic decision. He lost his bid to rescue her last month, and she has been put to death.

We only need to look to the north to find some of the most heinous crimes against humanity, as Canada has euthanized more than 76,000 souls through MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying), which became law in 2016. Many were not terminally ill, with some unable to get the appropriate healthcare to remedy their situation, thus being offered MAID, while the debate is on about whether mental illness can be considered grounds for receiving help to die.

Embracing LIFE

Enough with the sad and tragic. Alongside the shadow of the death culture that has sought to strangle our nation’s future, there are growing trends pointing to hope – and to embracing life.

Among them are the Pro-Life efforts to combat the lies of the massive and predatory abortion industry.

Across our nation, more than 70,000 brave and compassionate people are rescuing moms and babies through nearly 3,000 pregnancy resource centers (PRCs). At these centers, no one is coerced to keep their babies; they are just offered a caring, listening ear, true help in a moment of crisis – and the love of people who actually care about moms and their little ones.

The great news is that nearly 250,000 individuals seek out a local PRC every month – meaning, despite protests, vandalism, and efforts to stop the good work of these life-affirming centers, the truth is getting out. Also, with many able to offer Abortion Pill Reversal, a simple intervention using progesterone has saved more than 8,000 babies when their moms had second thoughts after beginning the abortion pill process.

PRCs provide free ultrasounds, prenatal and parenting education, and medical services (in some facilities), as well as baby supplies, from car seats to strollers, clothing, and diapers. Some actually continue serving the mom (or mom and dad) with parenting classes and support for the first couple of years of the baby’s life. They also help young moms connect with adoption agencies if they feel that is the right choice.

While online campaigns from the Left seek to call PRCs “fake” clinics – simply because they don’t provide abortions, we think that’s pretty rich, considering that Planned Parenthood clinics falsely celebrate the idea of “choice” when they only offer one choice – to abort. Incidentally, Planned Parenthood profits from each visit from a frightened young girl facing an unplanned pregnancy, and PRCs gain nothing financially from the ministry they offer these young women and men. PRCs also provide caring and compassionate counsel, help, and support groups for those suffering emotionally after an abortion.

Another Great Awakening?

When the young English evangelist George Whitefield left England, he led the First Great Awakening in the pre-Revolutionary American colonies, where he traveled thousands of miles, preaching more than 18,000 sermons during his lifetime. He deeply affected the spiritual life of America and its founders, including his good friend, Benjamin Franklin.

Before we go further – if you haven’t seen Sight and Sound’s major motion picture A Great Awakening, what ARE you waiting for? It was stunning.

Anyway, some believe that another great awakening is underway right now, marked by notable evidence. In 2023, the Asbury Revival drew between 50 and 70 thousand people who journeyed to Asbury College after a one-hour chapel service stretched for sixteen days. Nearly 8,000 were baptized last May as part of “Baptize California,” and many colleges are seeing mass baptisms and young people coming to Christ at events drawing hundreds and, in some cases, thousands.

Charlie Kirk’s assassination sparked a generation to look again at the faith he articulated at his many gatherings. Since his martyrdom, people have not only lionized this free-speech champion, they have also begun exploring the truth that Charlie was most passionate about – Jesus as Lord and Savior. Countless posts flooded social media of people returning to – or trying church for the first time because of the things Charlie taught. His legacy of embracing life, faith, and freedom will have ripple effects into the future, without a doubt.

Other hopeful statistics indicate that Generation Z has driven the steady growth in Bible sales over the last few years. More than 18.4 million in US Bible sales were recorded for 2025. (For comparison, in 2019, Bibles sold around 9.7 million).

Patriotic Revitalization and America250

In this nation, we know how to celebrate – and a true celebration is life-giving indeed! There has been a groundswell of patriotic fervor for some time.

For many of us, we found encouragement in the turning of the tides as the Presidential election results brought back a wave of hope through a revitalized military, a rebuilding economy, and a return to a national embrace of commonsense policies (like there are only two sexes, thank you, President Trump).

Now, we are getting ready to celebrate the 250th birthday in grand American fashion. Gone from this party will be apologies and apathy for the great gift we’ve been given as American citizens. We will roll out the red, white, and blue, showing the world how we do it.

There will be national parties, concerts, events, galas, and what they’re calling “America’s Block Party.” Here at Moms for America, we hope to see many of you as we travel all year from state to state to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime semiquincentennial!

There are so many other things we could talk about, but even with the life-and-death struggles we face in this culture, we know that together we can embrace life and make bright hope the theme for our next 100 years. We do our part to help hope grow through this beautiful network of moms - from all 50 states. We will lift the torch of liberty – celebrating life - and the blessings of freedom, together!

Podcast note: This week, we discuss a sobering topic with guest Jan Jekielek, whose groundbreaking book Killed to Order exposes the brutal reality of China’s organ harvesting industry. Jan’s in‑depth reporting revealed an unthinkable human tragedy. It was a difficult conversation, but a topic we must not ignore.
