Worry.
The Bible is clear. Don’t do it. 1
Your grandmother might’ve called it “borrowing trouble,” and she was right. Still, worry is easy to fall into – and sometimes difficult to shake. Managing this emotion that can sweep into our mama hearts almost without warning, especially where our kids are concerned, is not easy.
When we consider the challenges and pitfalls so many of our friends and neighbors’ kids (and maybe one of our own) have stumbled into, our guard is up, and our mama bear instincts take hold. It’s hard to temper our impulse to worry - even with a pint of ice cream on hand.
Though worry isn’t productive, as moms, our protective nature is a good thing – God–given. So often though, our good intentions and desires to protect and nurture show up as an impulse to wring our hands without a clear path forward.
Here at Moms for America, we’ve got a roadmap ready to help you tap into your skill set and convictions, replacing worry with action. Mama, we know you can make a meaningful impact in your community and school. The ripple effect of your efforts can change the trajectory of kids in your area and our nation. We’ll show you how – keep reading.
When we look at some sources of worry that may crease your brow, we can imagine that your child’s schooling during this confusing and challenging cultural moment is near the top of the list. As we endeavor to guide and protect our children, frankly, there’s been a lot to worry about in recent years.
Amid the many good teachers, positive opportunities, and moments where our schools have shined, there have been dangers in recent years that we’ve hoped and prayed our kids would escape. The cancer of Critical Race Theory, which pitted students against one another while tagging our children as either oppressor or victim. Rampant gender ideologies in the classroom that continue to endanger kids and teens through scientific misinformation and stolen identities, with a (hopefully small) selection of educators who have been willing to lie directly to parents to keep these dangerous influences secret. Then there’s the disappointing test scores across certain school districts nationwide, leading to shocking downward trends in education. 2
For those of you who are excellent teachers, or others who may cringe at this type of critique since it doesn’t apply to you, we understand, and don’t wish to paint our schools negatively with an unreasonably broad brush. However, if your child was the one who was secretly gender-transitioned by a teacher, it matters little if it’s a rare occurrence. It may have marked that precious child for years to come. Sadly, evidence shows the very real dangers and struggles for parents and students in many schools.
That’s what inspired our strategy to equip and empower moms like you to influence families and schools to better the education our children receive. Finally, you can turn the urge to worry into constructive influence – and positive action.
Moms Needed: Become a School District Ambassador
As moms, we do what we can to stay on top of our kids’ schooling, but sometimes struggle to find clear, trustworthy information about what’s actually happening. There are school board meetings and teachers to speak with – so many moving parts to our school districts and the actual policies that affect our kids each day. Instead of wondering and waiting to see what happens next, we are challenging you – and other moms nationwide to use your natural influence as a School District Ambassador with Moms For America. We have the right tools, tips, and knowledge to help you make a difference in your local school system and within your community of parents.
Often we feel like we’re hanging up our gifting and education to fulfill our call to motherhood, that so much is “on hold” until our kids are launched into adulthood. Not true. In your stage of life, you can become an Ambassador without losing momentum with your family. As you engage, you’ll inspire and teach your kids to grasp what it means to care for and influence your world. We have everything you’ll need to step into this volunteer leadership position and become the go-to mom in your area.
As a School District Ambassador, you’re not a political operative or spokesperson for someone’s campaign. Instead, you’ll focus on the schools and policies in your area, becoming a positive conduit for information, strategy, ideas, and guidance for other parents who aren’t sure where to start. You’ll be well equipped to provide clarity, education, and connection so that moms and families can engage wisely and constructively with their schools. Instead of simply worrying, complaining, or living with the frustration, Ambassadors will help parents influence through clarity, knowledge, and civility. Most of us already discuss things and socialize with other parents we know – so it’s a constructive extension of that. You’ll just be more in the know and ready to help.
With our training and connection with regional Moms for America leaders, as needed, you will be the local “eyes and ears” - a conduit for families and the school district. You’ll become trusted to know what’s happening in area schools. You will feel confident discussing the issues you and other parents face with a solid grounding in truth, civics, and parental responsibilities and rights. Remember, you’ll have training and resources available to you through Moms for America.
Could You Be a School District Ambassador?
For some, this may sound like a lot to handle, while others, no doubt, feel that burning inside at this call. As you mull this over, we’ve identified the type of moms who will be well-suited to fill these impactful ambassadorships. Don’t sell yourself short – we know you have a great deal to offer.
These Ambassadors are women who care deeply about education and the children in their community. They appreciate thoughtful, informed engagement – rather than confrontation and believe parents should be informed and involved in everything that concerns their kids. These future Ambassadors truly want to serve the community in a meaningful way that still fits manageably into their busy lives. Is that you? Click this link to learn more. [Dads, grandmothers, and grandfathers are also encouraged to apply for this position.]
We’ve Got You
If you decide to become a School District Ambassador, we’ll begin by training you in the role and providing resources to learn more about civics, parental rights, and the education system. We’ll have talking points and best practices for building positive, productive relationships with parents and schools. You won’t be yelling through a bullhorn; rather, you’ll be engaging one-on-one with other parents like you.
We’ll help you learn to organize your efforts and share the educational resources and summaries of board activities with other parents. You’ll also gain access to a national network of fellow like-minded School District Ambassador moms for support and encouragement in your important role.
Your innate skill at relationship-building is key as you naturally influence other moms and dads to become more engaged. As a fellow parent, you will be a relatable, compassionate guide for others facing similar circumstances – a much-needed ally.
What’s more, we’ll connect you with Moms for America State and County leaders if you face a need for state-based support or guidance.
It’s important to note that becoming a School District Ambassador can flex to fit your schedule and season of life. Simply put, you will shape how this looks for you and your family.
Whatever you face, you are never expected to go it alone – we can support and guide in a variety of ways.
The Time is Now
